Supplier Quality Engineer/Customer Liaison
Johnson Controls Inc has three divisions with 140,000 employees in more than
1,300 locations serving customers in 125 countries: automotive experience, building
efficiency and power solutions. Johnson Controls Virtual City primarily deals
with contract manufacturing suppliers with an emphasis on electronics. Responsibilities
included:
" monitoring suppliers to aid in preventative activities;
" implement quality reviews and review corrective actions,
" visiting supplier facilities in US and Mexico to inspect production facilities
as they impact quality to the customer,
" review PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC data, and drawings to drive to corrective
actions and prevention,
" review PPAP submission packages,
" complete PPAP submissions for new or revised product launch and revisions
to customers.
" perform role as Customer Liaison functions for quality issues at customer
including 8D submissions and resolutions.
Hekman Furniture, Grand Rapids, MI May 2004- June 2004
Engineer (contract position)
Hekman Furniture designs and assembles furniture. Responsibility:
" modify CAD drawings (Autocad 2D) for use on the production floor.
Keeler Die Cast, Grand Rapids, MI June 2003- April 2004
Project/Quality/Launch Engineer (contract position)
This plant is no longer in business. Primary role was as an expert in Toyota
Production Systems to launch a new product for Keeler which was supplied to
Toyota. Responsibilities included:
" installation of equipment in cellular layout and trained all operators,
" creation of all quality
" complete all APQP documents
" create work instructions,
" oversight of other production lines as Process Engineer.
" designed returnable packaging in which the parts were shipped to the
Toyota facility.
Behr Industries, Grand Rapids, MI June 2002- April 2003
Quality/Manufacturing Engineer. IE/QE (contract position)
Behr supplies wood-veneer interior trim components to the automotive industry.
Responsibilities (industrial engineering) included:
" time studies, line balancing, capacity studies
" process improvement
" quality control and customer liaison
Gill Manufacturing, Grand Rapids, MI Oct 1999- April 2002
Process/Quality Engineer, Supplier QE/Customer Liaison
Gill Manufacturing supplies automotive stampings and metal assemblies. Responsibilities
included:
" launching $2 million worth of capital equipment (twelve assembly machines,
three cells, and fourteen operators),
" oversight of machine manufacturer including initial process run,
" installation of equipment in cellular layout and trained all operators,
" creation of all quality (inspection) documents
" creation of APQP documents (PFMEA, process flow, control plans)
" developed work instructions,
" oversight of other production lines as Process Engineer.
" completed negotiations for drawing specifications with Nissan,
" reduced scrap from 2% to .005% of sales in less than nine months,
" participated in VAVE team.
" monitored outside suppliers such as a paint facility for performance
and quality.
